Ronaldo wins La Liga best player award



















Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo yesterday picked up an award for being the best player in the Spanish La Liga.


Earlier in the day, Ronaldo had appeared with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, after agreeing a new five-year contract to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2021.



The contract ceremony was followed up by Monday night’s Marca Awards dinner, where he picked up the Alfredo di Stefano award for La Liga’s best player.
Ronaldo said at the award ceremony, “Last season was filled with many emotions, with the Champions League and the European Championship.















“But today has also been a very special day with my contract renewal and a prize from Marca, what else I can ask for?
CR7 as he is popularly known, who the Champions League all time highest scorers, scored 35 times and contributed 11 assists for Real Madrid last season, helping the Spanish giants to the Champions League title and captaining his country to victory at Euro 2016.
He is however, expected to join up with his national teammates for their World Cup qualifier against Latvia on Sunday.
Ronaldo will then lead Real Madrid as they face neighbours, Atletico Madrid after the international break and closest rivals Barcelona in their next three league matches.
