Although no life has been reportedly lost, efforts has been intensified by the Enugu State government to contain the outbreak of cholera which occurred leaving several people hospitalized in Nsukka, Udenu and Igboeze South Local Government areas of the state.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. George Eze, who lead a team of health workers from his ministry and representatives of the UNICEF and World Health Organization, WHO, visited the affected patients in the various hospitals on Saturday and donated drugs worth over N500,000 to be administered free of charge.

At Bishop Shenaham Specialist Hospital, Nsukka, Reverend Josephat Odoh, who represented the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, said: “We have as many as 12 cases admitted in a day, though the situation has improved.”
Dr. Eze said his visit to the three affected hospitals confirmed that Governor Sullivan Chime was passionate about healthcare delivery in the state and had directed that the drugs should be administered free of charge to the patients.
He said: “As I donate these drugs on behalf of the governor, Sullivan Chime, I urge you to do more.
“I appreciate the way you have managed the disease; it shows that the state will be at peace whenever something similar occurs in these three councils.”
